Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is known for its global diversity and unique academic experience. With an emphasis on peer discourse and collaboration, students enter a dynamic learning environment that includes small-scale seminars, Yale faculty lectures, Impact Panels, and more.
During YYGS Online, students also join simulations, where they address real-world issues by participating in an open-ended problem-solving activity with likeminded peers. Over the past two years, YYGS students have addressed issues related to education, poverty, climate change, and women’s rights. This past cohort addressed global issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Inter-Vax: Promoting Global Vaccine Equity
Concerned about the importance of equitable global vaccine distribution, students designed a website dedicated to raising awareness about this growing issue

With the increase of social distancing and online learning, many teenagers are feeling increasingly isolated. To combat this problem, YYGS participants created a podcast that focuses on teen mental health through the lens of radical empathy.
In order to amplify female voices and empower women to navigate the post-pandemic world, students created an online platform on Instagram to build community and disseminate information. The group made the collective decision to continue the project post-YYGS.
In such unprecedented times, this simulation group addressed the problem of limited education access. These students created a website, blog, and model for education plans post-pandemic to combat this issue.

Dedicated to spreading optimism in such uncertain times, YYGS students created a safe online space for teenagers to focus on positivity. Their website features positive news stories about sports, body positive creators and brands, artwork created by YYGS students, and spotlights on talented youth doing great things to help the world.
Learning remotely can be very difficult, especially for young children. This simulation group created a new system that helps children track their schoolwork and also rewards them in order to boost positivity and engagement.

Yale Young Global Scholars is an academic enrichment program for outstanding high school students from around the world. Each summer, students from over 150 countries (including all 50 U.S. states) participate in one interdisciplinary, two-week session at Yale’s historic campus or online.
YYGS hopes to host residential and online sessions for June & July 2022, and we are working closely with our colleagues across Yale to evaluate options. We will provide timely updates regarding 2022 session offerings on our website. Our 2022 application will be available by late September.
